Kinan’s Bike is a documentary picture book that presents short stories of refugee children from Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iran… The book results from the author’s encounters with girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 17. Even though war is invariably present, the stories are neither grim, nor somber. The kids talk about their dreams and cherished memories, about their hometown streets, favorite dishes, and customs of theirs. Kinan’s Bike can also be read as a journey book through different cultures – in it, there are incredible landscapes and details of life from various corners of the world, there’s hope and laughter.
