Milena Selimi was born in Tirana, Albania. She holds a degree in Albanian Language and Literature from the University of Tirana and has completed a specialization in TV Journalism at the Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski” in Bulgaria. Milena has an extensive career in journalism, translating, and playwriting. She has translated numerous novels into Albanian, including works by Georgi Gospodinov, Nikola Madzirov, Alek Popov, Kalin Terziyski, Milen Ruskov, Zlatimir Kolarov, Edo Popoviç, Ognjen Spahiç, Lidija Dimkovska, Svetislav Basara. Her translations of dramas by Goran Stefanovski and Tena Štivičić won Eurodrame in 2019. She was shortlisted for the Bulgarian Peroto award for translation (2020) for The Physics of Sorrow by Georgi Gospodinov. Since 2021, she has been the artistic director of the International Youth Literary Festival Tirana Gate in Tirana, Albania, which has hosted renowned authors from the Balkans and Europe, including winners of the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL). Milena is fluent in Bulgarian, Italian, Macedonian, and Serbian.
